For its 269th operation, the Association 1000 Sourires has reserved a magical day for around thirty little Saint-Paul residents from modest backgrounds. The kids were able to celebrate Christmas a little early, last Wednesday at the Mercure Créolia hotel in Saint-Denis.
The Very Important Marmailles (VIM) sponsored by 1000 Sourires were hosted by the teams of Pascal Turonnet, director of Mercure Créolia. In addition to receiving a visit from Santa Claus, the lucky little ones were also able to participate in workshops, in the company of prestigious guests.
Budding magicians
The children had fun playing magicians while following Vadrame Clair’s accelerated courses. After demonstrating his talents to them, the Reunion mentalist and magician from Saint-Paul shared some of his tricks with his little students for a day. The kids quickly put themselves in the shoes of a budding magician and learned how to perform a magic trick with matchboxes. They were all proud to have mastered the exercise and couldn’t wait to perform this trick in front of their families during the end-of-year holidays.
Treats as the holidays approach
The famous péi jam maker Jean-Charles Nagou offered a gourmet workshop to awaken the taste buds of the association’s children. Little gourmets have learned a lot about péi products, such as lemon caviar or even cooked syrup and péi honey. The 2021 jam maker world vice-champion also played Santa Claus and distributed books to the children.
Freestylers amaze the kids
Clém and Mathieu, freestyle football champions, were also at the party. The opportunity for little Saint-Paul residents to discover this sporting discipline which combines acrobatics, juggling, dance and gymnastics. The two freestylers who came from Métropole especially for the 1000 Sourires kids performed acrobatics solo or in duos, in front of their young, captivated audience.
“We are happy to have been able to offer a colorful afternoon to the children. They were spoiled and left with gifts but also beautiful memories,” rejoices Ibrahim Ingar, president of the 1000 Sourires Association.
